Five Months Old!

Hi folks! Sorry for the lapse in blogging. I've been super busy the last few weeks and forgot to blog and set some posts up. Turns out it was a blessing in disguise, though, because Blogger Outage '11 ate a number of blogs and posts.

While I was on spring break, Hannah weighed in at over 13 lbs. She's definitely going to meet her doubled weight by 6 months goal. She continues to plump up. In fact, I look back at her photos from month one, month two, month three, and month four, and I can't believe how skinny she looks.

Nanner is growing and changing everyday. Her hand-to-mouth coordination has grown substantially in the last month, even. Right now, she's sitting across from me in the bouncer, chewing away on a teething ring. Last month, she would have struggled to bring it to her mouth and hold it for more than a few seconds.

Time for this again?
Hannah now has two teeth bursting through her gums. She's handling it like an old pro. There have only been a few days they have bothered her, but a little ice and Tylenol seems to take the edge off.

"Stoopid hooman kitten takes away my attentionz."

"I'm so big!"
She has also discovered her tongue and she loves to blow raspberries at us, especially when she's getting her diaper changed. She is completely fascinated with faces, and she'll grasp at your face with both hands if you let her get close enough.

"Sitting still is boring."

"Hannah G--OUT!"

"I think I'll have more fun over here."

"Hey! Look at me!"

"Humph! Must. Get. Moving!"

"Woo! A whole chair, just for me!"
As you can see, she loves to move. Hannah has been rolling nonstop since Easter. She hates being on her stomach, but has yet to figure out that she can move herself from her stomach onto her back. She can do it. I've seen it and her pedi has seen it. For whatever reason, she finds it more fun to roll onto her stomach and scream until one of the grownups comes around and moves her back. She's also discovered her feet and reaches for them at every available opportunity.

She's a great baby and she's sleeping through the night pretty much every night. When she doesn't, it's usually the result of her teeth bothering her or a change in her routine. Even then, she bounces back and parties on. She is one kick ass kid.

"Yay! My friend is back!"

"Mr. Dog, I love you so much."

"But this show is all about me!"

"Pow! Outta my shot, dog."

"Forget this. I'm out."

"Alrighty. I am approaching this from the wrong direction."

"I'll get rid of YOU, Mr. Dog."

"Hah! V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!"

"Okay. Now what?"

"I'm feeling a little lonely here, Mom."

"Yay! Mommy loves me!"

"You hoomans are ridiculous."

Mother's Day 2011

Infertility Sensitive post below. Proceed at your own risk.

Today is my first official Mother's Day. It's.....weird. Last year, when we told our moms that they were going to be grandmothers, I felt very disconnected from Mother's Day. It's a day for moms, and well, I really didn't feel like a mom yet. I was just an incubator. Graham got me flowers anyway--that boy was raised right, I tell ya--but for the most part it was just another Sunday for me. This year, it feels strange that I'm the one getting flowers and I get to stand up at Mass with all the other moms for a special blessing. In some ways, I don't feel like a mom yet because Hannah makes it so easy. She sleeps like a dream, she's hardly ever cranky, she's extremely easy-going...I thought parenthood was supposed to be difficult!

::ducks, because someone is probably throwing a shoe at me::

I know it will get harder. At some point we'll want another one and we'll be evenly matched, two against two, and if we ever even think about a third child we'll be outnumbered. At some point, Hannah will start walking and one of us will get neurotic about her bumping into things and getting a concussion. At some point, she'll want to walk to school. Alone. At some point, she'll want to start dating. At some point, she'll develop her own opinions and world view and we will argue until one of us has a small stroke. If she's anything like me, her teenage years are gonna SUCK.

It's no secret that the last year and some months hasn't been easy for me. I've been a crazy hormonal roller coaster and my mood has been up and down, back and forth, and pretty much everywhere it can go. I've been to some pretty dark places and I don't want to go back there. Even when I was at my lowest, I woke up everyday because I had a really great reason to keep going. On Mother's Day, I'm going to celebrate the reason I wake up every morning.

Homemade Onesies: Spring Edition

Probably the cutest thing to come out of my baby shower were these homemade onesies, shirts, and bibs. My sisters all collaborated on games and activities, and to take some of the pressure off us while we opened gifts (hello, spotlight) they asked everyone to design a onesie, shirt, or bib for Hannah to wear. We walked away with some super cute pieces, and some of them are truly spectacular. So here we go--Hannah's Spring Collection!

First up, a shirt for the infant on the go!

See? There she goes!

Woo!!
Next, a truly heartfelt and original piece from her friend Sabrina....

Here we have a lovely little number that any baby would feel good wearing to bed. Guaranteed to ensure sweet dreams!

This next onesie showcases Hannah's love for Jacob Black. Apparently, she's "Team Warewolf".

Here's a shirt that any mom should be proud to see on her daughter.

Perfect for summer: all babies scream for ice cream!

Jane was confused. She thought Hannah was the ice cream cone. Not so, kitty. Not so.

"Mmmm, this hooman is delicious. Baby is my favorite flavor."
