Weekend Recap

Well, Graham's been home a mere 24 hours and we've been busy! His plane actually landed early since the wind was with them, so a 90 minute flight was only about 45 minutes. He said they were cruising at 27,000 feet for about 15 minutes before they had to descend. Now why couldn't our flight to Maui have been that fast?

Shortly after he came home, he showed me all the stuff he got at the conference, including a Lego keychain, a mug made entirely from corn oil, and another mug that looks like a glass beaker with a handle (including measurments on the sides) and one side of the mug shows off the molecular makeup of caffiene. He also got himself a t-shirt that reads, "I [molecule] science!"

Oy.

I'm glad he's home, that's for sure. It's amazing how much bigger this apartment feels without one of us here, and for a few days I was convinced that every little sound and twitch and creak was a serial killer out to get me.

After he arrived at home, he also had to post some survey results online for a class he's taking (he can fill you in on that), and we just enjoying spending time with one another for the first time since Wednesday morning. After he got all his school stuff taken care of, I put on my costume and we were off to his parents for the rest of the day. For the last few years I've passed out candy at their home because we don't get trick or treating children in our building. Next year, I'll be able to pass out my own candy at my own home, but for the last 3 years I've enjoyed passing out candy at my in-laws' and scaring away little children. This was the first year I wore a costume to do it, too, and I think I'll always wear a costume to pass out candy--the reactions were priceless! And generally, I've discovered that kids and parents alike are generally a little friendlier to you when you're showing off some seasonal spirit.

This week, Graham's going to be reading and completing work for the class he's taking, I'm going to be working on my grades, etc. for completion of the first quarter (yahoo!), and we're just going to chill as much as possible because the next few weeks are going to be busssssssssssssssssssssssssssssy!

In house news, I met with our lending agent this week and passed off some papers we had to get notarized and stamped and officialized. We have ONE MORE paper to get to them--that stupid proof of home ownership counseling. Once we attend that session (Tuesday at 3:30) and fax over that paper, we are d-o-n-e with paperwork! I even asked our lending agent if they were looking for a blood test or something. He said that everything in our file looks good and that now it's all having papers reviewed and stamped.

Hopefully we'll know when we're closing by the end of this week! Our target date is November 12th, and that's still a little ways away for us, it's finally November so here's hoping the next few weeks fly by! Once we get our keys we're going to get in there and paint (and we're looking for volunteers we can pay in pizza and beer) and hire some movers to get us out of here before Thanksgiving, since we'll have houseguests (hopefully)!

So, that's the last few days and the next week or so. Who's good at painting? Remember: pizza and beer!!!

  1. That's wonderful that you could be closing so soon! All I have to say, though, is start packing NOW! Believe me, I know from experience...
